Onze gedachten gaan naar een voetbalveld en in onze gedachten verschijnen beelden uit tv-series: pompons, meisjes in rokjes, popmuziek, grote glimlachen en op de achtergrond de typische Amerikaanse middelbare school.<\/p>\n

Wie zijn de cheerleaders?<\/h2>\n[\/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text css_animation=”fadeIn”]Cheerleading is een discipline die meestal wordt beoefend door meisjes die muzikale en acrobatische choreografie\u00ebn uitvoeren die bestaan uit elementen van gymnastiek en dans. Het bijzondere is dat het team, naast de competitieve teamwedstrijden, ook moet presteren tijdens andere sportevenementen. Bij Amerikaanse voetbal-<\/strong>\u00a0of basketbalwedstrijden<\/strong> is er meestal geen gebrek aan steun voor hun team op het veld en begeleiding door de fans.<\/p>\n

Films en tv-series geven niet altijd een positief beeld van cheerleaders, die vaak worden afgeschilderd als oppervlakkige en enigszins frivole antagonisten. In werkelijkheid is cheerleading een sport<\/strong> en als zodanig vereist het fysieke en mentale prestatievermogen van atleten. Hoe cheerleaders ontstonden<\/h2>\n[\/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text css_animation=”fadeIn”]Cheerleading ontstond rond 1860 in Groot-Brittanni\u00eb, maar begon pas aan populariteit te winnen toen het de VS bereikte. Rond 1880 organiseerden studenten van de Yale University een georganiseerde groep om het universitaire voetbalteam aan te moedigen. Het is zo succesvol dat dit ritueel zich snel verspreidt. In het begin was dit enkel voor mannelijke studenten, pas in de jaren 1920 werd het ook een discipline voor meisjes.<\/span><\/p>\n

De echte populariteit van deze typisch Amerikaanse sport<\/strong> kwam in de jaren zestig, toen elke college<\/em> en high school<\/em> in de VS een cheerleaderteam had.<\/p>\n

In de VS is het \u00e9\u00e9n van de populairste sporten onder jongeren, en het is ook populair in Canada, Australi\u00eb, Nieuw-Zeeland en Midden-Amerika. Cheerleading en schoolgevoel<\/h2>\n[\/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text css_animation=”fadeIn”]Naast het sportieve aspect is cheerleading interessant vanwege de Amerikaanse cultuur. Als we denken aan de motivatie waarvoor deze discipline is ontstaan, is het gemakkelijk te begrijpen: een oorverdovend en innemend gejuich, doordrenkt met trots op de eigen schoolgemeenschap!<\/p>\n

Cheerleading is de ultieme uitdrukking van wat in de VS bekend staat als school spirit<\/em>, dat gevoel van identiteit en gemeenschap dat gedeeld wordt door degenen die naar dezelfde school of universiteit gaan. Het uit zich op vele of misschien wel alle mogelijke en denkbare manieren, zowel binnen als buiten de schoolactiviteiten. Het Amerikaanse schoolsysteem<\/a> steunt elk gedrag dat de schoolgeest bevordert ook buiten de schoolstructuur. Liedjes en hymnes weerklinken in de sportzalen en gangen en de cheerleaders worden de echte sterren! De andere momenten zijn bijna allemaal sportief van aard: elke wedstrijd, elke competitie en elk toernooi weerspiegelt dit sterke gevoel van identiteit.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column
